What this covers, and why it is done this way

A correctly built UPS installed badly is an unreliable UPS. The failures we are called out to fix in the first year are almost never the electronics — they are loose terminations that were never torqued, a battery room with no ventilation, an undersized incoming cable, or a bypass that was never actually tested.

Commissioning is where that gets caught. We do not consider a machine commissioned because it powered up. We consider it commissioned when it has held rated load on a resistive load bank, transferred to battery and back, transferred to static bypass and back, and every one of those readings is on a sheet you have signed.

We install our own equipment and equipment from other manufacturers.

How the work runs

Step by step

  1. 1

    Site survey

Incoming supply measurement, earth resistance test, room dimensions and access route, ventilation assessment, load list verification.

  2. 2

    Drawings and schedules

General arrangement drawing, single-line diagram, cable schedule and protection coordination issued for your approval before anything is delivered.

  3. 3

    Delivery and placement

Rigging and positioning, including access-restricted rooms and terrace machine rooms.

  4. 4

    Battery rack and bank

Rack assembly, cell placement, inter-cell links torqued to specification, individual open-circuit voltages recorded before connection.

  5. 5

    Power and control cabling

Input, output, bypass and DC cabling. Every termination torqued to specification and recorded.

  6. 6

    Commissioning tests

Insulation resistance, phase rotation, no-load run, stepped load-bank test to rated capacity, battery discharge and recharge, static and maintenance bypass transfers, alarm verification.

  7. 7

    Handover

Signed commissioning certificate with all readings, as-built drawings, O&M manual, warranty registration and operator training on site.

UPS Installation & Commissioning — questions we get asked

Anything not covered here, call us — most of it is faster to answer on the phone.

How long does a UPS installation take?

A single-phase unit under 10 kVA with a small bank is typically a half-day. A 60 kVA three-phase system with an external battery rack is usually two to three days including commissioning. A parallel redundant installation with a load-bank test witnessed by your consultant runs to a week. The survey gives you a firm schedule.

Do you supply the incoming cable and MCCB?

We issue the cable schedule and protection sizing as part of the drawings. Supply and laying of the incoming cable is usually done by the site electrical contractor, since it forms part of the building distribution — but we can quote it as a turnkey item if you would rather have one party responsible.

What ventilation does the battery room need?

VRLA batteries vent hydrogen under charge, and while it is a small volume it accumulates in an unventilated room. Rated life is quoted at 25 °C and roughly halves for every 8–10 °C above that, so ventilation is a life question as much as a safety one. The survey includes a ventilation and cooling assessment against your bank size.

Can you commission a UPS we bought elsewhere?

Yes. Commissioning-only is a standard scope. We will tell you at the survey if we find anything in the supplied equipment or the room that we are not prepared to sign off, rather than certifying something we do not stand behind.

Coverage

Where we attend

Everything is built at our Pune works and delivered, installed and commissioned across the city and the industrial belt around it.

Outside these areas we contract individually against distance, and we will tell you honestly if the response time you need is not one we can hold to. All areas served
