How it works

And when it’s the right answer

An isolation transformer breaks the direct electrical connection between the supply and the load — the two windings share only a magnetic path. Nothing conducted on the primary reaches the secondary directly. That does three useful things: it kills common-mode noise, it breaks earth loops, and it lets you derive a fresh, clean neutral for a sensitive load.

An ultra isolation transformer adds a second electrostatic shield between the windings, each shield separately earthed. The measured difference is substantial: a standard isolation transformer attenuates common-mode noise by roughly 40–60 dB, an ultra isolation transformer by 100–120 dB.

This is the component that fixes the faults nobody can trace — the analyser that gives inconsistent readings, the controller that resets at random, the network segment with unexplained CRC errors. It does not correct voltage and it does not provide backup. It cleans.

vs Servo stabilizer

A stabilizer corrects magnitude. An isolation transformer removes noise and provides separation. If the reading is unstable rather than the voltage low, this is the one you want.

vs A surge protection device

An SPD clamps a transient. An isolation transformer continuously attenuates the noise floor and breaks the earth loop that lets it in.

Isolation Transformer — questions we get asked

Anything not covered here, call us — most of it is faster to answer on the phone.

What does an isolation transformer actually protect against?

Common-mode noise, earth loops and conducted transients. It does not correct voltage, does not provide backup and does not remove harmonics generated by your own load. Specifying it for a problem it does not solve is a common and expensive mistake.

Isolation or ultra isolation — is the extra shield worth it?

For a general industrial load, standard isolation is enough. For medical imaging, laboratory analysers, metrology and broadcast, the second shield takes attenuation from roughly 50 dB to over 100 dB, and that is the difference between a stable reading and an intermittent one. If the equipment maker specifies ultra isolation, take them at their word.

Can it be installed downstream of a UPS?

Yes, and that is a common configuration — UPS for continuity, isolation transformer immediately downstream to derive a clean, separately-earthed neutral for the sensitive load. Tell us the UPS rating so we can match the K-factor to its output.

Where we supply and attend

Isolation Transformer units are built at our Pune works and delivered, installed and commissioned across the city and the industrial belt around it.

Outside these areas we contract individually against distance, and we will tell you honestly if the response time you need is not one we can hold to. All areas served
