What this covers, and why it is done this way
Most upgrade enquiries start the same way: the load has grown, the backup time has dropped, and someone has quoted a new UPS. Sometimes that is right. Often the machine is running at sixty per cent and the real constraint is the battery bank, which is a fraction of the cost and a day of work rather than a project.
The distinction matters and it is easy to get wrong in either direction. Replacing a sound machine because the runtime fell is expensive; nursing an overloaded one because a bigger bank looked cheaper is worse. The assessment decides it, and it starts with measuring the present load rather than reading the original load schedule.
We upgrade any make, including machines out of manufacturer support. Where the original maker no longer supplies a part, a compatible assembly is specified and the change is documented on the drawing so the next engineer knows what is in the cabinet.
Step by step

Load measurement
Clamp readings over a working day, not the nameplate total. What the machine is actually carrying, and where the peaks land.

Machine assessment
Load point, capacitor and fan condition, controller generation, and whether the topology still suits what the load has become.

Bank assessment
Timed discharge at present load, cell-by-cell impedance, and the room ambient — which is frequently the reason a bank aged early.

The honest recommendation
Upgrade, partial upgrade or replace, with the reasoning written down. Where replacement is genuinely cheaper over five years we say so rather than sell a retrofit.

Retrofit
Bank extension, capacity uprating, controller or display retrofit, remote monitoring, or a bypass added where the original had none.

Load-bank verification
Tested at rated capacity after the work, with the readings issued against the serial — the same test a new machine gets.

Can my existing UPS capacity be increased?
Sometimes, and it depends on the cabinet and the power stage rather than the badge. A machine with headroom in its transformer and thermal design can often be uprated; one already at its limit cannot, and forcing it shortens its life. The assessment establishes which you have before anything is quoted.
Is upgrading cheaper than buying a new UPS?
Usually, but not always, and we will tell you which. A bank extension on a sound machine is a fraction of a replacement. A capacity uprating on a fifteen-year-old unit with tired capacitors and no spares support often is not — you spend most of the cost of new and keep the old failure modes.
Do you upgrade UPS made by other manufacturers?
Yes, and most of this work is other makes. Give us the make, model, year and battery configuration and we confirm what is possible and what parts are available before committing to anything.
My backup time has dropped. Do I need a bigger UPS?
Almost certainly not. Runtime is set by the battery bank, and a bank that gave thirty minutes at 40% load gives closer to ten at 80% — capacity derates with discharge rate. If the machine is still within its rating, the bank is the constraint and replacing the UPS solves nothing.
Can you add remote monitoring to an older machine?
On most units, yes. An SNMP card or a monitoring gateway can be retrofitted where the machine has a serial or dry-contact interface, which covers nearly everything built in the last twenty years. What it reports depends on what the original controller measures.
